Hyderabad: Close to a month after the brutal attack on them, the young couple B. Sandeep and his wife Madhavi still anticipate a threat from the latter’s father Manoharachary, who is currently lodged in a prison.
Madhavi, 20, who received critical injuries to her face and hands in the attack by her father, was discharged from Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda on Wednesday, while her husband B. Sandeep, 24, recovered from his injuries earlier.
The Hyderabad police do not want to take a chance about the security of the young couple, who already had a narrow escape in the brutal attack in the centre of the city in the heavily crowded Erragadda area on September 19.
Madhavi, who came out from the hospital in a wheelchair with a bandage on her left hand, shared the series of incidents that happened before the attack by her father Manoharachary. She also disowned her family and said that she would never talk to them again.
“He (Manorharachary) is no more a father for me. I did not expect that my father would resort to such a brutal incident and try to kill me. He wanted to meet me as I came out of the house with nothing and since my certificates and clothes were at home, he wanted to hand them over to me. But, instead he attacked me and Sandeep,” said Madhavi.
“My father never gave me the freedom unlike fathers of other girls do. Had I told him that I loved Sandeep and wanted to marry him, my father would have not let me do so. It would have ended up in a marriage against my interest. I did not tell him about the marriage and he tried to kill me,” Madhavi said, still recuperating from the brutal attack.
Speaking to this newspaper, Madhavi who reached her home in Erragadda said “We will not leave this city just because of the previous attack. I have been advised to not do any work for another one year. Meantime, Sandeep will continue working and former MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav has assured to help him get a good job. After a year, I will start working and we will live happily.”
Despite accused Manoharachary being lodged in prison, Sandeep and Madhavi expressed threat from him in the future. “We still suspect he will do something to us after his release. We have called the SR Nagar police and informed about reaching home. We will ask for police security,” they said. Sandeep demanded stringent punishment to his father-in-law.
Responding to a query, Madhavi said “My mother and brother visited me twice while in the hospital and asked me to be happy. I do not think they would ever do anything inhuman to me. It is only my father whom I feel is a threat.”
