Andhra Pradesh: Farmers rejoice NGT move, hope to see development
Guntur: The Pro Land Pooling scheme farmers who pooled their lands with APCRDA for the establishment of new capital Amaravati welcomed the National Green Tribunal verdict allowing the AP government to construct Amaravati. They distributed sweets enjoying the verdict and hoped Amaravati works start without any hurdles.
The pro LPS farmers of Venkatapalem B. Srinivasa Rao, N. Venkateswarlu and others said that the farmers who had pooled their valuable farmlands were in distress due to the court cases especially NGT. They said that they voluntarily offered their lands approving the LPS expecting good development of their areas as part of new capital Amaravati and a bright future to their children. They lamented that but the court cases stalled the Amaravati development activity for the past three years which is very sad.
They sought the government to speed up the Amaravati works making good use of the NGT verdict and to turn their dreams of Amaravati as world class new capital.The pooled farmers who recently completed the Singapore tour from various villages of Amaravati Capital Region expressed happiness over the verdict. The pooled farmers in Venkatapalem, Tullur and other areas of Amaravati were seen distributing sweets accompanied by the Telugu Desam cadres.
