Hyderabad: Ms Nandamuri Suhasini, the granddaughter of Telugu Desam founder N.T. Rama Rao, filed her nomination from the Kukatpally Assembly constituency with much fanfare on Saturday. She was accompanied by the sons, grandsons and daughters of the late party patriarch.
Ms Suhasini, the daughter of the late N. Harikrishna, was accompanied by actor and uncle Balakrishna and other members of the NTR and Harikrishna families. She visited NTR Ghat first and paid tribute to her grandfather before filing her nomination at the Moosapet circle office.
Actors Kalyan Ram and Jr NTR, Ms Suhasini’s brothers, who are abroad for a film shoot and extended their support to their sister through Twitter.
Later both the brothers released a joint statement stating that the TD was a sacred organisation for them as their grandfather had founded the party with the belief that people were God. They said that their family believed that women should play an important role in society. “Our sister wants to serve the people with the same spirit. We wish her all the best,” they said.
After filing her nomination papers, she told mediapersons that “I am inspired by my father, grandfather N.T. Rama Rao and uncle N. Chandrababu Naidu and have been interested in politics.” Suhasini said entering politics was her wish from childhood.
