AINRC legislator seeks Kiran Bedi's intervention
Puducherry: At a time when ruling Congress legislators are raising strong objections to the Lt Governor Kiran Bedi visiting their constituencies, a legislator of the All India NR Congress (AINRC), the main opposition in the house, sought the intervention of Ms Bedi to address various issues in the constituency.
AINRC legislator from Thirubuvanai constituency R.Kobiga, in her letter to Ms Bedi, sought her immediate intervention in issues including desilting and cleaning of Thiruvandarkoil lake, fencing and cleaning the channel of Thirubavanai lake, irregularities in allotments of tenements constructed by Adi Dravida Welafre department at Kalitherthalkuppam, absence of teachers in the government school, absence of other basic facilities including toilet and, transport facilities in some areas of her constituency. The Lt Governor, who visited the constituency along with senior government officials following the complaint, addressed various issues.
Ms Bedi, who visited Thiruvandarkoil lake, said that cleaning work would be completed by January and the Lt Governor asked the legislator to form a committee including key people of the area to conduct a massive tree plantation after the cleaning works are over.
The Lt Governor also reviewed the work of construction of individual toilet in Sanyadikuppam village. The project director of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) PT Rudra Gowd informed the Lt Governor that only a few beneficiaries have completed the construction of toilets so far. A request was made to the legislator to identify beneficiaries who failed to complete the work and to consider genuine beneficiaries who have been left out.
