CM Siddaramaiah Vows Anti-Corruption Action in Karnataka
Gadag: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed the government's commitment to addressing corruption issues within the state, assuring that it will not remain passive in the face of such challenges.
Speaking to the media at the inauguration of the Balamadira building today, the Chief Minister asserted that thorough investigations would be conducted, and appropriate actions taken against those found responsible.
Siddaramaiah's comments were prompted by concerns raised about a significant number of buses being under repair in the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), leading to drivers facing a lack of duty and officials allegedly demanding bribes to assign them duties.
"We will not tolerate corruption. We are already scrutinizing the previous government's 40 percent corruption case. Action will be taken against anybody proven guilty in any case," CM stated.
Siddaramaiah further reassured citizens that ample funds have been allocated for announced projects in the state, emphasizing the availability of resources for guarantee schemes and development initiatives.
"Till the end of November, the previous government had spent Rs 70,814 crores on development. Our government has spent Rs.73,928 crores. We have spent over Rs.3000 crores extra. We formed the government on May 20, presented the budget in July, and it came into force from August 1. Four guarantees have been implemented, and the 5th guarantee will be initiated in January. We have fulfilled the promises," he added.
The CM also accused the BJP and its affiliates of spreading misinformation about a financial shortage.
In response to concerns about the new variant of Covid, Siddaramaiah mentioned that the Health Minister has been instructed to convene an immediate meeting to discuss precautionary measures.
