First standard girl falls into utensil with hot breakfast, succumbs to burns

Adilabad: Pragna, a first standard student in a government primary school, fell into a big utensil with ‘ragi jawa’ that was to be served as breakfast to the students at Koratikal village in Nirmal district’s Mamada mandal on Saturday.

She was rushed to a hospital with serious burns and died while undergoing treatment early Sunday morning.

Students were standing in a queue to take their breakfast, when Pragna, who was in the front, fell into the utensil. Other students and teachers rescued her.

On instructions from the district collector Ashish Sangwan, district education officer A. Ravinder Reddy suspended the in-charge headmistress and issued showcause notices to three other teachers for the incident. He also cancelled the agency that was preparing the food for the students in the school.
