Venkaiah promises more funds for health care

The ongoing dialysis programme with 25 machines cater to over 26,000 haemodialysis sessions per year.

Nellore: Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday inaugurated one of the largest dialysis units at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (Svims) in Tirupati.

Health Minister Dr. Kamineni Srinivas was also present on the occasion.
Svims Nephrology and Urology departments are functioning as tertiary referral programmes for Rayalaseema region. The ongoing dialysis programme with 25 machines cater to over 26,000 haemodialysis sessions per year.

This programme will support around 450 patients at any given time. Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted a healthy nation that would be strong in all respects.

He also said that the Prime Minister’s main aim was to remove economic disparities, educate the poor and girls and promote farmers’ welfare. Stating that the health care should get more budget, Mr Naidu felt that the government cannot deliver all the needs to people and called for PPP mode for providing better medical amenities. The Union minister said the people should have a change of mindset.

People’s lifestyle is changing which is causing health disorders in them, he said.
The minister commended the Svims management for coming up with the dialysis unit under PPP model which is first in the country.

Stating that the Prime Minister wanted people to change their mindset and attitude, Mr Naidu felt the country would move forward in a right direction.
He said demonetisation had put the common man to some difficulties but it was necessary to control terrorism, human trafficking, drug mafia and child trafficking.

The Union minister also said that the big movement Making of Developed India (MODI) was going on in the country. He called upon youth to take part in it.
Quoting a survey report, Mr Naidu said that 53 per cent of the country’s wealth was in the hands of one per cent people.

During the last few decades only 450 and odd companies were given bank loans. The PM wants loans to be given to poor and hence implemented Jan Dhan Yojana. Health minister K. Srinivas Rao said the Centre was very liberal in allocating funds to the state. He said the Centre had granted '1,400 crore funds for health sector to the state.

Local MP Siva Prasad, MLAs, the Executive Officer, TTD Dr. D. Sambasiva Rao and the Chairman of TTD Chadalawada Krishnamurthy were present on the occasion. The Director of SVIMS Dr T Ravi Kumar felicitated the Union Minister on the occasion. Faculty, doctors and students and staff of the SVIMS also attended the function.
