Hyderabad police go slow on 25 Gokul Plots builders
Hyderabad: The arrest of 25 builders of Gokul Plots and an owner who took up construction within the full tank level (FTL) of Malkam Cheruvu is being put on hold by the Madhapur and Raidurgam police.
The GHMC demolish 26 structures and filed an FIR and cases were registered for building without permission and one for submitting forged documents. Despite the municipal authorities submitting evidence, no arrest has been made so far with the police claiming that investigations were on.
The GHMC had razed 25 illegal structures on December 28. Of the 50 illegal apartments and independent houses in Gokul Plots near Hafeezpet, half of them were demolished in three days by GHMC west zone authorities.
It was found that Gokul Plots, sprawling across 23 acres, where the market rate is Rs 40,000 per square yard, was on disputed land. The 25 independent houses were being built without permission and the rest were apartments. After Ayyappa Society, this was the biggest hub of illegal buildings, civic officials said. Post-demolition the west zone authorities filed a complaint and an FIR was registered at the Madhapur police station.
The same month, mayor Bonthu Rammohan found a construction in the walkway of Malkam Cheruvu falling within the FTL levels. On questioning, the owner produced permission documents, which on examination were found to be without approval. It was later found that forged permission letters were created with postal stamp and signatures of the GHMC.
