Cusat becomes part of European Union project for teachers
KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has become a part of the European Union project that aims at enhancing the capability of teachers in the higher education sector in Asian countries. Universities from Vietnam, China, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Spain too are partners in the project named Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE). The project is led by the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland.
The European Union has sanctioned one million Euros (approximately Rs 8 crore) for the project and the duration of the project which will be implemented with IT help will be one year. The project submitted in this regard by Dr. K. A. Zakkariya, Director of Kousal Kendra at the university and Professor, School of Management Studies, Cusat, is one among the 147 projects approved by the European Union out of 874 projects received during 2018.
Dr. Zakkariya had presented the project in Brussels after being invited by the European Union.
The kick-off meeting to implement the project will take place from February 19 to 22 at Cusat and all the members from partner institutions will take part in it, an official of the university said. Dr. Kamila Ludwikowska from Wroclaw University, Poland, will lead the event. Dr. R Sasidharan, Vice-Chancellor, Cusat will inaugurate the kick-off meeting on February 19.
The seminar and the project are intended to develop a curriculum for teachers, using Information Communication Technology (ICT) to empower teachers to improve the capacity of the students to the maximum so as to enable them land a great career.
