Facelift for Puthukad railway station
Thrissur: The Puthukad railway station here is set to get a facelift with 10 huge paintings, including a 3-D picture of a dinosaur, on the wall of the waiting room and the ticket counter.
Apart from the 3-D picture, there are nine pictures, including the ritual art form of ‘theyyam’ of north Kerala, along with themes based on Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi on the platform of the station.
The wall, including the ticket counter, has the painting of a rivulet with wild animals on its banks. The dinosaur painting is above the ticket counter.
The officials of the commercial wing of railway in Thrissur said that similar to the beautification of Thrissur railway station, a private firm Pilot Smith India Pvt Ltd was doing the painting at Puthukkad station free of cost. The company will be allowed to place its logo near the paintings.
R. Arya, a tech student of electronic and communication wing of the Vidya Academy of Science & Technology at Thalakkottukara, will do the presentation of an android app of a bluetooth-controlled coach position board before Southern Railway general manager R.K. Kulshrestha during his visit to the station on February 24.
If approved by the railways, the board which could be controlled by the railway officials of the station using a mobile app would be installed at the Puthukad station.
