Kochi: Little KITEs fly on tech tools
KOCHI: More than 100 students selected from various schools in the district were ushered into emerging technology areas such as Internet of Things (IoT) and 3D character modeling at the two-day camp which concluded at the regional resource centre of Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in Kochi on Monday.
The 102 Little KITE members practised with Blender, the free and open source 3D computer graphics software using which they created 3D character modelling, character rigging and 3D animation at the camp, held as part of the General Education Protection Mission. They also made models such as LED alarm that works automatically after receiving inputs from different sensors, electronic voting machine which displays the result on the screen after voting using Raspberry pi (a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV), IOT controller which works as per the directions from mobile app, creation of 3D models of dining table, glass, cups and saucers, fruit basket and dining hall.
KITE executive director K. Anvar Sadath said every student will be given a chance to experience these areas as part of the IT studies. The state level camp will be conducted during the summer vacation with the students who were selected from the district camp.
