Sania Mirza should be removed as Telangana ambassador: T Raja Singh
Hyderabad: BJP MLA T. Raja Singh described tennis champion Sania Mirza as the “daughter-in-law of Pakistan” and requested Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to sack her as the state’s brand ambassador of Telangana state following last week’s terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama.
His demand came just when Sania Mirza was being trolled on social media for her statement on the Pulwama attack. She had called it a black day and that she was against terrorism. But she also stated that she felt no need scream from the roof-tops. She had said that she did not need to condemn the attack publicly.
The statement, she had said, “was for those people who think that as celebrities we need to condemn an attack and be all over social media to prove we are patriotic and care for our country.”
“I play for my country, I sweat for it and that shows how I served my country. I stand with the CRPF jawans and their families, my heart goes out to them and they are true heroes who protect our country,” she had said on Twitter.
The BJP MLA released a video saying that many countries were supporting India and had condemned the attack and that Mr Rao had decided not to celebrate his birthday. “He has to remove Pakistan’s daughter-in-law as ambassador of the state. We have many star players like P.V. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal to replace her,” Mr Singh said.
