PM Modi has cheated nation, says Rahul Gandhi
Kalaburagi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a severe attack on PM Modi alleging that the latter was not only a 'thief' but also a 'liar' as he had cheated the country with his various decisions and also his glib talk. "On the contrary my party has always fulfilled the promises it has made," Mr Gandhi declared while addressing the Parivartana rally of the Congress at the NV Grounds here. The rally was part of the Congress chief's campaign to bolster support for veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who is facing a tough challenge in his home turf, Kalaburagi.
Mr Gandhi recalled that it was at the same ground in 2009 that he had announced that the Congress would amend Article 371(J) to give special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region if voted to power and the Congress led UPA-II government did fulfil the promise. “Over 30,000 people have got jobs after the amended 371(J) came into force and as many as 6,000 youth get engineering and 800 youth get medical seats every year,” he said.
“Similarly, we have kept our word to waive off farm loans in Punjab, Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. And in Karnataka, loans,” he said and added, “ Mr Modi on the other hand has not fulfilled his promise of providing two crore jobs every year during the last five years. Instead, lakhs of people have lost employment due to demonetisation, GST and other measures taken by him.”
