As this state has a treasure of culture, many traditional and folk dances, we have a scope for understanding it getting in deep instead of forgetting it. The young generation who are in varies platforms are bringing a bit of such to the mainstreams.
Blacksheep, a popular Tamil Youtube channel has come up with one of the popular songs ‘Solla marantha kalai’, a forgotten folk dance remake through small clip, owing to uplift Tamil folk dancers and folk dances. The team already has brought a successful drama ‘IRATHTHA KANNIR’ and its stage appearance got effective responses from all centers.
“The forgotten folk dance would come to existence when we give support and encourage,” according to Blacksheep CEO R J Vignesh. “We had more than thousand folk dances but now only twenty of them are in practice. This is not to collect fund for them. Through our promotion they would get a chance to perform their art in any function that would be corporate, school or college function. We have been meeting them and collecting information from them. We have also researching team who are working on it. We should not
underestimate them though they are folk dancers. We should give support as like we give importance to Bharatanatyam,” he shared.
“We are going to introduce fifty folk dancers and fifty folk dances in every video. We are going to use celebrity or star, they will learn from professionals and they will teach through our videos. In our award function they will perform. We will continue to give promote and support for them throughout this whole year.” Vignesh added.
