Kerala election results: Various political party workers wait to celebrate victory
Kozhikode: Green and red umbrellas, laddus, vehicles, flags --- the workers of various political parties who expect victory are preparing to make the counting day celebrations a visual extravaganza with these items.
In Malappuram, green would dominate other colours. The workers of IUML leader P.K. Kunhalikkutty are ready to celebrate his victory at Vengara, an IUML citadel.
Nanath Ubaidulla, poll manager of Kunhalikkutty told DC that elaborate preparations were made for the celebrations. “Green will rule the streets tomorrow. We will have green laddu, green umbrellas, green caps, band men in green uniform, green painted bikes, and most of the workers also would try to wear green dress,” he said.
“We are ready to go to the counting stations tomorrow,” he added. Mr Ubaidulla believes that Mr Kunhalikkutty would bag a majority of 40,000 votes.
But ‘red’ will rule the streets of Kozhikode. K. Sajeevkumar, media coordinator of LDF candidate of Kozhikode North, A Pradeep Kumar, told DC that party men had already arranged red umbrellas with sickle-hammer-star symbol of the party on it, percussion team with white and red uniform and vehicles decorated with party flags.
“The city would be painted red tomorrow with party workers of all winning constituencies in the district flowing to the city,” he added. “We have printed thanksgiving posters and also would manage to reach out to the maximum centres with the candidate”, he added.
Meanwhile, the bands, troupes and percussion teams in the city also are a happy lot.
“Most of the groups received booking for both UDF and LDF as in majority of the constituencies it is a tight contest”, said T.S. Nidhin, team leader of St Mary’s Nasic Doll team. “Normally, the defeated team would back out”, he added.
