'Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' throws out chief priest
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) proceedings directing to relieve Pradhana Archaka (head priest) A.V. Ramana Deekshitulu was pasted at his residence in Tirumala on Friday.
The TTD Trust Board had passed a resolution on Wednesday to implement retirement of all the mirasi archakas (hereditary archakas) on reaching the age of 65. The TTD has given directions to relieve Mr Deekshitulu and to post Mr A. Venugopala Deekshitulu as the Pradhana Arachaka of the Tirumala temple.
Some of the archakas have welcomed the decision. Speaking to mediapersons in Tirumala on Friday, newly appointed Pradhana Archaka A. Venugopala Deekshitulu said, “All allegations made regarding the ancient jewels of the Lord are baseless. The TTD is maintaining all records. The announcement of retirement of all the Mirasis is definitely a good move, as the next generations will also get an opportunity to serve the lord”.
