Rowdy death: Autopsy done, body taken to Punjab
MYSURU: The post-mortem of Vijaynagar shootout victim, Sukhvinder Singh (40), was conducted on Saturday after his relatives arrived from Punjab. The body was later handed over to them for last rites.
The post-mortem was conducted by the doctors of Mysuru Medical College amid tight security and Sukhvinder's relatives refused to speak to media.
Police said they have made arrangements to send the body to Punjab. It was sent to Bengaluru International airport by ambulance, from where it will be transported by air.
According to the police, the inquest was done by judicial magistrate, in the presence of Sukhvinder’s three relatives Gurumeeth Singh, Arvinder Paal Singh and Harjinder Singh. Their statements were also recorded.
Sukvinder reportedly worked as financial consultant for a Punjab-based finance company. He is survived by his sister, who is not married.
Police inspector B.G. Kumar, ASI Venteshgowda and constable Veerabhadra, who were admitted to K.R. Hospital, were discharged on Saturday.
Kumar, who had reportedly fired at Sukhvinder, has been transferred to Bengaluru Central Range IG’s office. CID officials are currently investigating the case.
The shootout happened in Hinkal on Thursday when the police went to arrest three Punjab-based gangsters involved in exchanging demonetised currency notes.
While two of them escaped, Sukhvinder was caught. In order to escape, Sukhvinder assaulted constable Veerabhadra and tried to strangulate him. He also assaulted Venkteshgowda and Kumar when they tried to free Veerabhadra.
In self defence Kumar fired at Sukhvinder. Though he was immediately taken to K.R. Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
