Post Governor's nod, Telangana to cancel illegal land deals
Hyderabad: The registration of government land parcels in favour of private firms and individuals over an extent of 3,000 acres will be cancelled soon after the Ordinance passed by the Telangana state Cabinet on Saturday gets the Governor’s nod.
These lands include illegal registrations done in Miyapur in favour of Goldstone and its allied companies and 50 acres in Hafeezpet, which were registered in favour of TRS MP K. Kesava Rao’s family.
The revenue audit done by officials after the Miyapur land scam broke in the last week of May revealed illegal registrations in 3,000 acres in and around the city. Another 1,000 acres were identified in districts.
These lands fall under various categories of government lands, which include assigned lands, jagir lands, makta land, inam lands, forest lands, evacuee/enemy lands etc.
These lands were found to be registered with forged documents by obtaining GPAs. Later, title deeds were obtained from the revenue department by ensuring its entry in Record of Rights.
Showing these title deeds, they sold land to multiple buyers. To recover these lands, the TS government has decided to cancel all the registrations that were done so far.
For this purpose, the state Cabinet on Saturday approved an Ordinance bringing an amendment to RoR Act, cancelling registration of government lands. These lands were found to be registered mostly in Miyapur, Hafeezpet, Ibrahimpatnam, Balangar, Shamshabad, Hayathnagar, Ghatkesar.
“The registration of 816 acres in Miyapur in favour of Goldstone and its allied firms, 50 acres in Hafeezpet will be cancelled. Nearly 2,000 acres in Miyapur and its surrounding seven villages were found to be registered illegally. Once the Ordinance comes into force, all these registrations will turn illegal,” said official sources in the revenue department.
The government is yet to get complete data on the extent of government lands registered illegally in Medak, Sangareddy, Ranga Reddy, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar districts.
