ADILABAD: Talks between the agitating students of IIIT Basar and minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy on behalf of the state government to resolve the problems faced by the former reached a deadlock on Saturday.
The leaders of the student governing council of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) of Basar who participated in the talks told the minister and officials that they would withdraw their agitation only after issuing a written assurance in the form of a press note to resolve all their 12 demands from the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. However, the minister reportedly said the talks were successful.
The talks began in the evening and ended by 9 pm on Saturday. Against this background, the students announced that their agitation would continue. They continued their agitation though it was raining and talks were going on.
Some student leaders reportedly said they had no faith in Indrakaran Reddy as far as resolving their demands was concerned. The agitation entered the fifth day on Saturday.
The student leaders who participated in the talks insisted on filling up teaching faculty posts to improve the quality of education and told the minister and officials that there would be a lot of difference between contract teaching faculty and regular teaching faculty as far as teaching and providing quality education to the students was concerned.
The newly appointed Director to the Basar, IIIT Dr Satish Kumar Peddapelli and Mudhole MLA Vittal Reddy, higher education vice- chairman Prof Venkata Ramana and Nirmal district collector Musharaff Ali Faruqui first held talks with the leaders of Basar IIIT student governing council.
