Somu Veerraju likely to be Andhra Pradesh BJP chief
Vijayawada: After the nomination of senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu for the Vice-President post, the BJP’s Andhra Pradesh is likely to see a major change in the leadership.
According to sources, the current state BJP chief Kambhampati Haribabu is tipped to be accommodated in the Union Cabinet as a minister of state, and either Somu Veerraju or Gokaraju Gangaraju is expected to lead the party in the state.
Among the two contenders for the state BJP chief post, Mr Veeraju appears to have greater chance for elevation.
Former minister Daggu-bati Purandeswari will be given a key position in the party, which is likely to irk Chief Minister N. Chandr-ababu Naidu. Leaders such as Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Kanna Lakshminaray-ana are trying to wield their influence on the party.
