New Delhi: As Covid-19 cases continue to decline in the country, the Union health ministry has eased the guidelines for international visitors on Wednesday. The earlier requirement of RT-PCR testing for a random two per cent subset of international travelers has been dropped. These new guidelines will take effect from midnight on July 20.
Under the revised guidelines, all international travellers are advised to be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against Covid-19 in their home country. The guideline emphasises the preference for full vaccination. Precautionary measures for airlines and travellers will still be applicable, including in-flight announcements regarding the ongoing pandemic and adherence to precautionary measures during travel and at all entry points.
Passengers displaying symptoms of Covid-19 during travel will be isolated as per standard protocol. Thermal screening will be conducted for all passengers by health officials at the point of entry. Those found symptomatic during screening will be immediately isolated and taken to a designated medical facility following health protocols.
In other news, India reported 49 new Coronavirus infections on Wednesday, with active cases increasing from 1,453 to 1,464. The death toll stands at 5,31,915, while a significant number of individuals, 4,44,61,625, have successfully recovered from the disease. The case fatality rate remains at 1.18 per cent.
