Kishan Upset as Officials Skip District Development Review Meet

The inauguration of a flyover was decided two days ago and this is being taken as an excuse for their absence

Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday expressed displeasure at the absence of officials from several departments and the GHMC at the district development coordination and monitoring committee meeting despite them being aware of the meeting for the past three months.

‘The inauguration of a flyover was decided two days ago and this is being taken as an excuse for their absence. This is simply not acceptable,” Reddy said at the meeting that was attended by Hyderabad district collector Anudeep Durishetty, BRS secretary-general K. Keshav Rao and officials from different departments.

When he was informed that the government has agreed to provide 75 cents of land in Abids for setting up a tribal museum, Reddy asked if the small patch of land would be enough for a museum designed to showcase tribal history. The Andhra Pradesh government allotted 25 acres for a tribal museum in that state. Here in Telangana, the government says it will give just 75 cents of land to build a Rs 25 crore museum, he said.

He also said that the administration should take urgent steps to improve sewerage systems and drainage, and measures to control the increasing pollution levels in the city, issue ration cards to those eligible, and ensure proper staffing and services at basti dawakahans, which are funded by the Centre.
