Kozhikode: The Sarovaram bio-park is getting ready to host the three-day BJP national council meeting to be held here from Friday.
Work is going on round-the-clock at the 2-lakh square feet air-conditioned hall being set up with German structure without digging the earth. The major convention hall is 100 feet wide and 200 feet long which has no pillars inside.
Special facilities have been provided for the 15,000- square feet temporary office complex of the prime minister, which has a mini conference hall for any emergency meeting, provisions for dining, media interaction, rest and also e-toilets.
The PM's cavalcade would go straight to the entrance of the venue through a special gate, according to BJP leaders.
The sides of the halls would be decorated with paintings, statues and symbols depicting the cultural background of the state, including theyyam, kathakali, boat race, Thrissur Pooram and many more. Four temporary bridges are being built across Canoly canal for the passage of VVIP vehicles.
To serve food to about 2,000 delegates and other staff, policemen, security officials and the media, two large dining halls are coming up while two halls would be earmarked for press conferences with the latest connectivity facilities. For the participants and others, a full-time canteen also would function.
BJP state general secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan who is in charge of the venue told DC that the entire structure would be fixed on the surface of the earth.
"We have planned it in an environment-friendly way," he said and added that earth would not be dug up even to fix the flag-post.
When asked about the possibilities of water-logging in case of rain, Mr Radharkishnan said that all precautions had been taken to avoid any discomfort. The venue would be finished by Tuesday, he said.
A state police team is already guarding the stage and PM's office space though the special security team will take over the venue after completion on Wednesday.
