Two murders in a month rattle Kollam

Earlier, Renju Johnson from Peroor was murdered by goons and the body was dumped in a remote village at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.

Ironically, both the murders were in the name of illicit relationships.

An auto driver in Kollam town, Siyad of Chandanayazhikath in Jonakappuram was stabbed to death by a gang in Chinnakkada on Sunday midnight.

Siyad was returning after his routine work when a group of people unleashed attack on him near Usha theatre junction. Stabbed all over his body, Siyad managed to escape in his autorickshaw towards the market road. The vehicle turned turtle in his desperate attempt and the gang that followed made sure he breathed his last in the middle of the road stabbing on his neck. In the autopsy it was found that his ribs were broken and the wound on his neck turned fatal.

Police infers that Siyad, who is unmarried, had an illicit relationship with the wife of an non-resident Indian in Pallithottam. According to police, the murder was executed by a quotation team along with the relatives of the woman.

Police has taken five persons into custody.

Earlier, Renjith Johnson, 40, of Promise Land at Kottankara in Peroor was murdered by a gang for living with the wife of a goon Pambu Manoj who was in jail. Ranjith was abducted by a four-member team that reached in a car at Ayyarumukku by 3.30 pm on August 15.

He was murdered at a deserted area near Polachira ela in Chathannoor. The body was abandoned in a pit where quarry wastes were dumped at Ponnankudi in Samoothapuram along the Nagarcoil - Tirunelveli road in Tamil Nadu.

The police have arrested two persons in connection with the incident and the other accused are still at large.
