Mysuru gets a facelift for 10-day Dasara extravaganza
Mysuru: With just 10 days to go for the Dasara festivities to begin in the city, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is working hard to repair its roads, beautify its parks , paint barricades and replace defunct streetlights to prepare for the extravaganza.
While the state government has already allotted Rs 5 crore for the civil work, the MCC has sought another Rs 15 crore to help it complete it. Currently, 16 wards in three zones in the core area of the city are getting a facelift with the existing funds and another 49 wards will be covered using Rs 3.5 crore from MCC funds, according to corporation sources.
The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is using Rs 50 lakh of its own to replace defuct street lights on ring roads and another Rs 1.2 crore to make arrangements for the torchlight parade, which will be held in the evening on Vijayadashami Day at the Bannimantap grounds, and to also organise the food melas. With traffic banned on the Chamundi hills during the festival, parking arrangements will be made near the Lalit Mahal palace helipad, reveal MUDA sources.
