Kadapa reports alarming rise in fever cases

District medical officer Dr Konur Nagraj said that seasonal fevers were rampant

Kadapa: Fever cases have been on a rise across Kadapa district for the past few days with patients rushing to Kadapa Rims and Proddatur hospitals in large numbers.

Kadapa general hospital is receiving an average of 1,000 patients every day. Apart from the three major hospitals, the district has 73 PHCs and 16 community health centres.

According to the latest health bulletin, 11,782 samples were collected from 61 key areas in 51 mandals in three days. The tests showed sizeable number of corona, hepatitis, viral fever and dengue cases. The most affected are Kadapa, Obulavaripalle, Tondur, Ramapuram, Rajampet, Atluru, T.Sundupalli, Veeraballi, Yerraguntla, Porumamilla, Jammalamadugu, Kamalapuram, Nandalur, Chitveli, Veerapunayunipalli, Rayachoti and Pulivendula.

District medical officer Dr Konur Nagraj said that seasonal fevers were rampant. He said 13 malaria cases have been identified since April and officials were taking appropriate steps to prevent them. He cautioned people in rural areas against dumping of stored water in bins and other areas. He explained that all the municipalities have released gambusia fish in collaboration with fisheries department for controlling mosquito larvae in the sewers of major panchayats.
