AP files petition in Supreme Court against Brijesh Kumar tribunal\'s new terms

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the new terms of reference for the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal, which is responsible for reallocating the Krishna River water between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The state argues that the new terms of reference are unfair and will deprive Andhra Pradesh of its rightful share of water. The petition also seeks the Supreme Court's intervention to protect Andhra Pradesh's interests in the Krishna River water allocation.

The Andhra Pradesh government's move comes after the Central government issued new guidelines for the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal. The new guidelines have been criticised by Andhra Pradesh, which argues that they favour Telangana.

The Andhra Pradesh government has also sought support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah to protect the state's water rights.
