Rampaging' horses kill veggie vendor in Mysuru

The owners of the horses are yet to be identified. Her son did not permit an autopsy or lodge a complaint.”

Mysuru: A 55-year-old woman died after she was reportedly knocked down by five horses which attacked her at Aachari colony in Gayathripuram first stage here on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Parvathamma, a greens and vegetable vendor and a resident of Muneshwar Nagar. She is survived by a son.

Dr Suresh, Assistant Director(Veterinary wing) at Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), said, "the incident occurred when Parvathamma was moving from one home to another selling greens on Tuesday morning. Of the five horses, two were males and three were females. One horse seemed to be in distress probably due to hunger and might have knocked her down for the green leaves in her basket. “January is the breeding season for horses and they may have had a conflict among themselves and knocked down the vendor in the process. They had not bitten her and, probably might have fallen on her," he said.

He added, "We shifted all five horses to MCC's cow care home in Suez farm. The owners of the horses are yet to be identified. Her son did not permit an autopsy or lodge a complaint.”
