Kozhikode police tighten grip on Heera Gold Exim
Kozhikode: The city police has taken steps to check any move to sell out the properties of Heera Gold Exim company in the state that has siphoned off huge sums of money from investors in Malabar region.
City police commissioner Sanjay Kumar Gurudin told reporters that the registration department had been told to prevent any move by the company to sell its properties in the city.
Mr Gurudin said that as the real extent of the fraud was yet to be exposed, the DGP would depute the agency to investigate the case. The Chengamanad police has submitted a report to the city police commissioner seeking an investigation by a powerful agency as the company is based outside the state. Moreover, there are many cases slapped against Nowhera Sheikh, the head of the company, in different parts in the country for illegal and fraudulent investment operations.
The police has frozen 20 bank accounts of the company based on 17 complaints filed by investors in Malabar who were cheated of RS 20 crore, though the group had mopped up about Rs 300 crore.
