Killers trained by CPM: KPCC president
Kochi: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said here on Tuesday that the twin murders of Youth Congress workers at Periya were committed by criminals who had received CPM training.
“All political murders in the past 50 years in Kannur and adjoining regions have been committed with the knowledge of Pinarayi Vijayan and he should end his silence on them. He should have the political decency to say that such violence will not recur,” Mr Mullappally told reporters during his Janamaha Yatra.
He likened the Pinaray-Kodiyeri axis to that of Modi-Amit Shah and added that the CPM leaders were Stalinists with a criminal bent of mind. “The CPM has functioned like a terror organisation for the past half a century. It was only implementing its annihilation theory,” he said.
He demanded that the police should nab not only the assailants but also those who masterminded the political murders. “The CPM presents dummy culprits which should not be allowed this time. We will conduct protest meetings in all panchayats on Thursday,” he said and added that the CPM’s renaissance posture also was a farce. He wondered why the cultural leaders and writers of the state were keeping mum and bending backwards when the state unleashes terror. “They have a responsibility to act and react. Then only all together can put an end to the cultural of annihilation,” he said.
Mr Mullappally asked whose safety the LDF government had ensured in 1,000 days. “In these days, 29 people were killed in the state,” he said. He was not happy with the investigation into Shuhaib and T.P. Chandrasekharan murders, he said. On a question whether he would demand a central agency investigation into the twin murders, he said, “let us see in what direction the Kerala Police investigation progresses.” The two youths had informed Bekal police of a threat to their life but nothing was done, he said. He evaded a question on the High Court action over the hartal call by Youth Congress saying the KPCC had not given the call.
He said that the families of the slain workers will be provided with '10 lakh each on Wednesday. They will be given an additional assistance of '15 lakh each collected by UDF leaders later. He also promised to build a house for slain Kripesh whose family lives in a thatched house.
