Wakf Board, cops evict land encroacher in Balapur
Hyderabad: With the help of police and revenue officials, the Waqf Board has got an encroacher Laxma Reddy vacate a Waqf land at Balapur. Laxma Reddy and his henchmen had tried hide the Waqf property — admeasuring six acres and 18 guntas — using tin-sheets at Roshan-ud Dowla, Balapur mandal.
Two tombs of the Qutub Shahi era — located in survey no 51/3 — were registered as the Waqf property, while Dargah Hzt. Imam Ali Shah, mosque and Khankhah on survey nos 49 and 50 were also registered as the Waqf property.
Laxma Reddy claimed that he had purchased the property under survey no 51/3 and that the cases pertaining to the title of the property were pending before the Waqf Tribunal and the High Court.
The Waqf Board received complaints about ongoing construction activities on the said piece of land on Friday.
Waqf Board chairman Mr Mohammed Saleem took serious note of the complaint and urged the higher officials of the police and revenue department to cooperate with the board in removing the encroachment. He also sent a team of officials from the board to displace the encroachment. The team successfully removed the construction material through the night.
