Rs. 2,000 note withdrawn on my suggestion, claims Naidu
VISAKHAPATNAM: TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu claimed on Friday that on his suggestion, the NDA government has withdrawn the ₹2,000 denomination currency note.
Addressing a public meeting in Anakapalli, Chandrababu said it is he who asked the central government to withdraw currency notes of higher denomination, as corrupt politicians are stashing them for use during elections.
“When I arrived in Anakapalli today, I heard the ₹2,000 note has been withdrawn,” Naidu told the crowd.
The former CM went on to claim that he also suggested to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to lay the four-lane highway across the country.
Repeating his allegations against the state government, Naidu said prices of essential commodities have gone up and power tariff has been hiked by eight times. “If opposition leaders question the government, they are sent to jail,” he remarked.
The former CM underlined that AP is falling back in development. He pointed out that AP’s rank has fallen to 14th in investments, 19th in water supply and education, and 29th rank in IT.
Naidu announced that NTR’s birth centenary celebrations will be held in Rajahmundry.
He assured the crowd at the public meeting that he will visit Anakapalli again in June. By then, he will be ready with his election manifesto, he stated.
