Santosh Kumar hails judgment given by Delhi HC to 'plant 10 trees'
Hyderabad: In a unique judgment, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday has quashed a 2017 FIR related to an altercation and directed the accused to plant 10 trees each of indigenous variety, in consultation with the Investigating Officer.
The FIR alleged that the complainant and his wife were beaten up by a group of men after the former asked them to stop causing disturbance outside his house.
However, the complainants and the victims said they did not wish to prosecute the FIR any further and wanted to end the matter, upon which the court said that it does not see any purpose if criminal proceedings are permitted to be prosecuted any further.
Welcoming the judgment, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar, popular for his plantation drive Green India Challenge, took to Twitter and hailed the Delhi High Court for delivering such a unique resolution.
“The Delhi High Court has delivered a unique judgment in a case directing the accused in a 2017 Holi altercation case to plant 10 indigenous trees trees each in the vicinity of their residence, in consultation with the IO. FIR quashed after parties compromised. Kudos to the Honble judge for this remarkable verdict (sic.)” tweeted the MP.
