Karnataka government trying to cover up attack on whistleblower prisoners?
Belagavi: The state government is allegedly trying to cover up the case of a brutal attack on Ananth Murthy, an inmate from Parappana Agrahara prison who had provided vital information to DIG Roopa. D about the illegalities in the Central Prison.
After the government came under attack over illegal activities inside Bengaluru jail, Murthy was severely beaten up in the jail for leaking information.
Even after photos of Murthy limping into the Hindalga jail appeared in newspapers, Prisons Department official are trying to cover it up by stating that he did not sustain any injury and was fully fit. However, sources in Belagavi revealed on Wednesday that Murthy received serious injuries in his groin was rushed to a private hospital in Belagavi located on Club Road for treatment. He was supposed to be admitted to Belagavi Civil Hospital on Wednesday, but was taken straight to the private hospital by the jail authorities. However, the nature of his injuries is still unclear.
What sources disclosed further is that all three inmates, including Murthy, who had tipped Roopa about illegalities in Bengaluru jail, suffered injuries and were treated by resident doctors at Hindalga prison as soon as they were shifted there from Bengaluru jail.
None of three inmates are being allowed to meet anybody since Tuesday as the jail authorities fear that the trio may disclose more information that could further embarrass the government. According to Hindalga jail Superintendent T.P. Shesha none of the inmates were taken out of the jail for treatment and they were treated by the resident doctors. Their condition has improved.
