Odisha's longest bridge named after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose
CUTTACK: Paying rich tribute Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday named the newly built state’s longest bridge at Trishulia near here after him. The 2.88-km new bridge constructed over the Kathajodi river with an investment of Rs 114 crore comes as a big relief for commuters between twin-cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack
The bridge connects Barang on the outskirts of capital city Bhubaneswar with Judicial Academy Chhak in Cuttack. It reduces the distance between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by almost 12 kms. Although the construction work of the bridge started after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid foundation stone in February, 2011, the completion missed the original deadline by over three years.
“The new bridge will usher in a new era in Twin City links by reducing distance and commuting time for the citizens. It will stand as symbol of our constant efforts towards development of modern infrastructure for growth and progress of the state and our people,” Mr Patnaik said while dedicating the bridge to the nation on Wednesday morning.
