Roads damaged due to rains in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: City roads have become worse with the continuous rains for the past few days. Huge potholes have been formed on the roads in One Town and Governorpet areas creating problems to the motorists. Water got stagnated on roads and huge rainfall on Wednesday afternoon had created severe traffic jam in the city. Continues rains in the city have showed the real face of roads which were laid for Krishna Pushkaralu with crores of rupees. Huge rain has washed off the top layers of roads and potholes have developed in a majority of the roads.
“Roads got totally damaged with rains. Huge potholes developed at Gurunanak Colony signal and other major junctions have become a problem for motorists. Vehicles are Skidding on the damaged roads. The government should take up necessary measures to fill the pot holes,” said J. Manohar Rao, a motorist. He said eforts should be made to relay the roads in places they were eroded.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has continued operations to clear stagnant water on the roads. The drains in city were blocked with plastic wastes and emergency teams have worked overnight to clear the stagnant water on the roads.
