Hyderabad: Cops tighten security at Nagarjuna’s house

The OU students also gave a call to lay siege of the house of Nagarjuna, who will host the third edition of the show.

Hyderabad: Police has increased security at the residence of film actor Akkineni Nagarjua following a call by students of Osmania University to lay siege to his house in the backdrop of the controversy over the TV reality show Bigg Boss 3.

OU students have filed a petition with the State Human Rights Commiss-ion requesting for an inquiry into the issue of ‘casting couch’ being used to select women participants in the TV reality show Bigg Boss-3. If the show’s organisers were found guilty, the show should be banned, they demanded.

The OU students also gave a call to lay siege of the house of Nagarjuna, who will host the third edition of the show.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, OU student K. Madhu who approached the State Human Rights Commission along with other students, said, “We can see a number of victims coming out with allegations of casting couch in the Bigg Boss show. The victim stated that under the guise of screening test for Bigg Boss the organisers had e sexually harassed the participants.

On Saturday last week, a city-based journalist complained to the Banjara Hills police that the Star-Maa reality show team comprising Ravikanth, Raghu, Abishek and Shyam had misbehaved with her. The Banjara Hills police registered a case. On Sunday, film actress Gayathri Gupta lodged a similar complaint with the Raidurgam police who also registered a case.

He said, “Participants are made to sign on white paper and are confined in a house for three months. Most importantly, women participants are harassed. All these are human rights violations.”

The students approached the SHRC to direct the authorities concerned to look into the issue.

Regarding the show host Nagarjuna, Mr Madhu said, “As a socially responsible person we request him to come out and make a statement regarding the issue. If not we are planning to lay siege to his residence.”
