Hyderabad: Good Samaritan spots groper, gets him nabbed
Hyderabad: An engineer from Suryapet district wanted in two cases of groping women pedestrians was arrested by Rachakonda police on Friday.
G. Shiva Reddy was nabbed with the help of footage from CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of a house in LB Nagar.
On June 12, Ravi Sandip, a resident of SBH Colony in LB Nagar, witnessed one such incident while reviewing footage on the CCTV cameras installed at his house. The cameras had recorded an unidentified biker groping a woman from the rear as she walked. Mr Sandip immediately called the police to inform them about the incident.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat assigned a special operations team to catch the offender and the victim also lodged a complaint.
The police commissioner said that on analysing the footage, it was found that the vehicle was registered in Suryapet.
They approached the owner and found that on the day of the incident, his friend Shiva Reddy, an engineer from Suryapet, was riding the bike.
Reddy was apprehended and questioned by the team and confessed to having committed the offence at LB Nagar, and also at Chaitanyapuri about two months ago.
Based on his confession, the bike and his mobile phone were seized and he was produced in court and sent to judicial remand.
The commissioner on Friday congratulated Ravi Sandip for his quick reaction to the incident and helping a woman victim, and rewarded him with `10,000.
