KCR to Announce Rs 1 lakh Sop for Minorities Soon: Minister Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao announced that the state government will soon launch a Rs 1 lakh financial assistance scheme for the uplift of minority communities in the state. He said this scheme for minorities will be on the lines of the Rs 1 lakh financial assistance scheme being extended to the Backward Classes. The state government will issue orders to this effect in a couple of days, Harish Rao added.

Addressing a meeting of minorities at Jala Vihar here on Thursday, Harish said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has immense respect for all castes and religions and he introduced several revolutionary schemes for the upliftment of minorities.

“KCR has introduced the Shaadi Mubarak scheme to extend Rs 1 lakh financial assistance to help minorities to perform weddings of their daughters, which was a replica of the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme for Hindus. The Chief Minister will announce a Rs 1 lakh financial assistance scheme for minorities very soon. It is currently under the active consideration of the Chief Minister and the guidelines for extending the scheme are being worked out," Harish said.

He accused the Congress of treating minorities as a “vote bank” and nothing else. “The BRS government has sanctioned Rs 2,200 crore for minority welfare in the current fiscal year. The total budgetary allocation for minorities made by the previous Congress governments in the last ten years was lesser than this.”

Enlisting the schemes introduced by the BRS’ government for the development of Muslim minorities in Telangana state, Harish Rao said that minority students could avail of a loan of Rs 20 lakh for overseas education. Ramzan gifts, Dawat-e-Iftar and guesthouse for pilgrims from Telangana state in Ajmer being built at Rs 5 crore were some of the schemes brought by the BRS government in the last nine years for the welfare of Muslims, he said.

Harish Rao also reminded that it was Chandrashekar Rao who demanded that the Centre hold NEET in Urdu medium.
