Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Rajiv Gandhi’s services to the country are extremely commendable. By making villages the backbone of the country, he strived to realise the vision of Mahatma Gandhi. He brought constitutional amendments to empower gram panchayats and other local bodies apart from earmarking 50 per cent reservation to women in local governing bodies.”

Rajiv Gandhi brought radical changes in the telecom sector and made the services available in villages. He continues to be an inspiration for the youth. Let us unite to protect the integrity of the nation, Revanth Reddy said adding the credit for giving voting rights to those aged 18 years also goes to the former prime minister.

Blaming the BJP for its divide and rule policy, he called it the British Janata Party.
