MyGHMC app fails to locate voters' camps
Hyderabad: The myGHMC app is unable to locate camps set up in the IT corridor to enrol voters ahead of the upcoming elections. In an extensive campaign, the GHMC has asked users to enrol for the voters’ list and rolled out a feature on its app to locate the electoral enrolment location.
Citizens of the IT corridor said they couldn’t find the details of the nearest camp on the app.
The IT corridor, where the population is growing rapidly, is not part of the Hyderabad district and fall in Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. Because the GHMC commissioner is the district electoral officer for Hyderabad district, the centres in the Hyderabad district are visible on the app. Collectors of the other districts need to guide eligible persons to register for the voters lists in their districts.
A techie, Mr Sai Kumar, said, “I see that data is unavailable even though I am using the latest version of the app on my Android phone. I wanted to get the address on my voter list updated.”
A Twitter user, Mr Balaji Senege, posted on his handle: “Many people are still finding difficulty in identifying the enrolment centres. If the app is not working, it wont reach intended recipients (sic).” Another user, Mr Bennet B., also noted that the app doesn’t work.
Asked about this, Mr Musharraf Faruqui, additional commissioner, IT, GHMC, said, “The GHMC commissioner is the electoral officer for Hyderabad district which comprises 15 Assembly constituencies. The rest of the areas are taken care of by the respective collectors of Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri district.”
He said that for the IT corridor, voters and eligible persons could approach the voting station set up in the previous election.
People can number 1800 599 2999 to check about the nearest enrolment centre.
