Hyderabad: Dense fog at Shamshabad, Ghatkesar delays buses
Hyderabad: Dense fog engulfed Shamshabad, Ghatkesar and areas close to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Friday morning, leading to poor visibility on the roads. Inter-state buses were delayed by an hour due to the thick layer of moisture present in the air.
A thick layer of fog is a result of the confluence of winds from the cold winds from the north and humid winds from the Bay of Bengal. The lower layer of the atmosphere is engulfed by cold winds from northern India and the upper layer by winds from the bay.
Since the bottom layer is cold, the humid winds melt into moisture thus causing a dense layer of fog. It is called fog when the moisture present in the air is stretched up to 1 km. If the moisture extends beyond 1 km, the weather condition is called mist. However, the fog formed on Friday is a temporary condition as the wind pattern is likely to change in the coming days.
Presently, there is no drastic change in the weather condition. The forecast for the city for the next two days is generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunders or lightning towards the evening or night hours.
The day and night temperatures in the city are expected to revolve around 320 Celsius and 200 Celsius respectively.
