CEO Requests Break for EVM Checks on October 23 and 24; Process Initiated on October 16
Vijayawada: AP chief electoral officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena announced a two-day break in the first-level checking of EVMs and VVPATs from October 23 owingto the Dasara festival.
In a statement on Thursday, he said AP Revenue Services Association president Bopparaju Venkateswarlu had sought a break for two days in view of the Vijaya Dasami.
Accordingly, Meena informed collectors and district election officers in the state to sanction a break in the checking process of EVMs on October 23 and October 24. Checking of these machines had started on October 16.
The CEO said checking of the electoral machines will resume from October 25 onwards and continue without any break till November 10.
