Show facts to rename Hyderabad city: Historian Dr Mohammed Safiullah
Hyderabad: If anyone is claiming that the name of Hyderabad city has to be changed they must go with their claim to the court with facts, said historian Dr Mohammed Safiullah.
He said any claims which are made must be backed with historical facts. “During the Kakatiya regime minorities were protected. In the Qutb Shahi and Asif Jahi dynasties, the prime ministers were non-Muslims. The rulers maintained communal peace and propagated secular values.”
He was delivering the keynote address at the World Heritage Week celebrations at the Golconda fort on Monday.
To understand history better and learn to respect the value of monuments and sites, he said that that local history right from the Kakatiya era must be taught in greater detail in schools.
This will allow the younger generation to cherish and protect the monuments and not deface them.
