Meet Indore’s ‘Queen of traffic’
Bhopal: Unlike in the days of past, traffic movement in Indore, especially at the city’s busiest traffic island, seems more regulated. But wait, this traffic sense has not been infused by any upright and no-nonsense bearing police official but is the outcome of a dancing sensation’s magnetism.
The girl in question takes particular delight in driving home the adverse effects of traffic rule violations and in a style that is uniquely appealing.
Meet 23-year-old Shubhi Jain, an MBA student, who is seen passionately persuading people to diligently follow traffic rules. A little shaking of legs and hand movements that appear as a sign-language is what Shubhi does to catch everyone’s attention.
She became a social media sensation when a video clip featuring her ‘exploits’ went viral. Her campaign has been so appealing that today she has a new identity — ‘Queen of traffic island of Indore’.
“I feel elated when people tell me that they have started wearing helmets and seat belts after my initiative”, Jain told this newspaper on Tuesday.
Jain is inspired by the histrionics of popular city cop, Ranjeet Singh, who hit national and international headlines for regulating traffic with his dancing skills.
“I cannot fill in the shoes of Singh sir. I am passionate about making people aware of swearing by traffic rules, which ensures their own safety,” says the girl, who is a native of Bina.
Speaking about her style of regulating traffic, she explains, “I am a sportsperson. Hence, agility comes naturally to my style. It is a mix of break dance and acrobatics.”
