Woman dies, 25 hurt in bus accident in Vikarabad
HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old woman died while 25 passengers suffered minor injuries when a TSRTC bus belonging to the Vikarabad Bus Depot overturned on the ghat section after the driver lost control at Anantagiri road on Sunday afternoon.
Bus was carrying over 50 passengers and was heading from Vikarabad to Dharur mandal, when the mishap occurred.
The victim was identified as K. Swaroopa, a resident of Rasoolpura, while the names of other two passengers who suffered critical injuries are yet to be identified, they are undergoing treatment in Osmania General Hospital (OGH), police said.
The accident occurred at 12.30 pm, Vikarabad police inspector, T. Srinivas, said. “We went to the spot after being informed by the villagers. The bus overturned and the passengers got trapped and screamed for help. With the support of locals and our staff we rescued the injured,” Srinivas said.
Swaroopa succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital while other injured are being treated in OGH, he said.
Chevella TRS MP Dr Ranjith Reddy also helped the police in rescuing the trapped passengers. Police registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver and shifted the victim’s body to OGH mortuary for post mortem.
On November 3, four persons who were travelling in an autorickshaw succumbed to injuries when they were hit by a lorry in Dharur mandal, Vikarabad district.
Eight others who were also travelling in the same autorickshaw had suffered injuries. The victims belonged to Madannapur thanda of Vikarabad district, police said.
