Hyderabad: Having only just recently donned the hat of a legislator, Makthal Congress MLA Vakiti Srihari on Tuesday night donned the hat of a patrolman, accompanying the local police in conducting night patrolling in his constituency.
The MLA interacted with locals and advised them to take precautionary measures to prevent thefts, even as several locals in Makthal of Narayanpet district sought his immediate assistance to curb rising thefts.
Residents told the legislator that despite the police conducting night patrolling, burglars manage to conduct heists or robberies by carefully selecting their targets.
In turn, Srihari accepted grievances submitted to him by the public and directed the police to increase night patrolling by deploying more teams and taking necessary measures to check crime.
Makthal police inspector K. Ram Lal, apprising the legislator on measures taken to check thefts, said: “We have increased teams and participated in night patrolling. Similarly, special teams have kept a focus on previous offenders indulged in night theft cases to prevent such incidents in future.”
