Temporary DME Appointed Until Further Notice
Hyderabad: The state government on Wednesday appointed Dr B. Triveni, currently the additional director of medical education at Osmania General Hospital, the incharge director of medical education (DME) until further notice, with incumbent Dr K. Ramesh Reddy relieved from his position.
Further, Dr Ravinder Naik, additional director (leprosy), was made the incharge director of public health and family welfare, succeeding Dr G. Srinivasa Rao, while in a related move, the additional DME of Jagtial government college would serve as incharge DME (academic), as per announcements made by health secretary Christina Z. Chongthu.
She said that the incharge arrangements for DME were temporary in nature.
The announcement came against a backdrop of the state government recently releasing a seniority list for the post of director of medical education due to a court case against Ramesh Reddy.
The Telangana High Court had earlier summoned Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, principal secretary of the health, medical and family welfare department, and Dr K. Ramesh Reddy, to be present on December 21 in a contempt case regarding filling up of the vacancy.
The court sought their explanation on why they should not be punished for contempt of court as they had not completed the regular appointment.
Justice Surepalli Nanda had issued the summons in a case filed by the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), which brought to the notice of the court that the authorities failed to comply with court orders dated April 24, wherein the court directed the government and principal secretary of health, medical and family welfare to follow the due process of law in filling up the post of DME.
