Prakash Raj stopped on way to protest
Hyderabad: Film actor Prakash Raj was allegedly intercepted by the police near Afzal Gunj when on his way to address agitating Unani students at Nizamia Tibbi College on Monday. However, this has not been confirmed either by the police or the students. It is learnt that he was informed by the police that permission had not been sought for his programme in the Old City.
Students of Nizamia Tibbi (Unani) College have held a silent protest for 13 days now against the Union government’s CAA-NPR-NRC legislation and procedures. They turn out every day after class and demonstrate silently. Heavy police security has been deployed by the South Zone police at Unani Hospital.
Additional commissioner of police, Mirchowk, B. Anand objected to the protests. He even questioned the principal of the college Dr Ahsan Farooqui why he is allowing the students to demonstrate continuously and asked him not to allow the students to protest daily.
He threatened the students with dire consequences and asked them whether they wanted to become leaders. He said when home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali had assured that there will be no NRC in the state, why are they protesting and not focusing on their studies.
