Currency gang busted in AP: Rs 2.17 lakh counterfeit notes seized, 4 held
Anantapur: In a major breakthrough, Kurnool police busted a fake currency gang and fake currency amounting to Rs 2.17 lakh at the Housing Board Colony in Kurnool on Monday. The gang was preparing the fake notes at the Housing Board Colony in Kurnool city and circulating it in all parts of the district.
Kurnool SP Ake Ravikrishna said the police teams received complaints over circulation of fake currency in the markets of Kurnool city in the past few days. Special teams were formed under leadership of Kurnool DSP D.V. Ramana Murthy.
Police teams received information on fake currency circulation underway at a hotel near the railway station area and a fuel filling station. Cops reached the places and nabbed two members and further raided a house in the APHB colony where the gang was printing the fake currency.
“They were printing the new Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes,” the SP said. Police arrested Daram Sunil, Valathti Tarakumar, Pasula Srinivasa Reddy, Loddipalle Sivakumar.
